COOLANT CHILLING UNIT

The Coolant Chilling Units is necessity of prasent industrial scene. The chilling unit were fell necessary for following reasons.

During maching operation heat is generated. This generated heat develops dimensional variation such as expansion and distortion in the job under machining. To achieve dimensional accuracy it is necessary to maintian job temperature within specified limits. This can be achieved effectively by maintaining coolant temperature by incorporating chilling units of appropriate capacities in coolant circuit.

Now a days, different type of coolant oils are used for various machining operations. These oils have lesser specific heat as compared to specific heat for water. To achieve certain temperature more volume of cutting oil is requred. Many times it is observed that mere extra flow is not sufficient. Then the only alternative of reducing temperature of the present volume of cutting oil remains open. This is done by Chilling Units .

The coolant chilling unit can be designed in two ways such as Dip-In type and Heat exchanger type. The design varies with heat-input parameters and the temperature to be maintained of the coolant fluid.

The performance of chilling unit also depends on the selection of evaporating coil. Material selection of evaporating coils depends on the type of coolant coming in contact with the coils depends on the type of coolant coming in contact with the coils. Evaporating coils of cooper, mild steel and stainless steel materail are normally used.
